The Rivers State Police Command has arrested a middle-aged man, Patrick Essien, for allegedly stabbing his landlord in Rumuiprikon, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state.
The incident occurred on Tuesday night, August 29, 2023, when Essien's wife had an altercation with the landlord, Iheanyichukwu America.
According to the landlord's wife, Chioma America, Essien was dragging his wife into their house when the landlord intervened. She said that the landlord told Essien that he would not allow his wife to sleep in their house that night to avoid further attacks by her husband.
Essien reportedly became enraged and stabbed the landlord in the stomach. The landlord was rushed to the hospital, where he is receiving treatment.
The police have arrested Essien and charged him with attempted murder. He is currently being held in police custody.
The landlord's elder sister, Gladys Bardey, expressed sadness at the incident, saying that the matter should be charged to court to ensure justice.
